Why take the family to a theme park when a 475-horsepower three-row SUV is sitting in the driveway? That's the pitch for the new 2026 Dodge Durango R/T 392, which brings back the beloved 6.4-liter Hemi V-8. Unlike the SRT 392, which ceased production after the 2024 model year, this revived version comes at a substantially lower price point.

Where the 2024 Durango SRT 392 started at $75,590, the new Launch Edition opens at just $51,990 — nearly $24,000 less. Dodge has dropped the SRT designation and is instead slotting the 392-cubic-inch iron-block V-8 into an R/T model for the first time. The name change doesn't affect the engine's output: the Hemi still produces 475 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque. Dodge says the all-wheel-drive three-row can reach 60 mph in 4.4 seconds, with an NHRA-certified quarter-mile of 12.9 seconds. Real-world results may be better still — when we tested a 2021 Durango SRT 392 with the identical powertrain, it hit 60 in 4.1 seconds and ran the quarter in 12.7 seconds at 107 mph.

The R/T 392 is more than just a big engine in a family vehicle. The suspension has been specially tuned with adaptive dampers, and the mechanicals include an electronic limited-slip rear differential and Brembo six-piston front brake calipers to keep things in check when the driver's enthusiasm gets the better of them. A standard performance exhaust may not endear you to the neighborhood, but that's a problem for another day.

Inside the Launch Edition, nappa leather seating surfaces are accented with microsuede. The front buckets feature added lateral bolstering with heating and ventilation, while second-row captain's chairs are heated. Third-row occupants get seatbelts — which is reassuring. Stepping up to the Premium model unlocks a substantial list of upgrades: an 18-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, carbon-fiber interior trim, a suede-like headliner, and leather-wrapped dashboard and door panels. The Premium also includes two-piece brake rotors with improved thermal management properties.

The Premium version of the Launch Edition starts at $59,590, while the base configuration is $51,990. Order books are open across all 50 states, with deliveries projected for later this year.
