The plug-in hybrid Mitsubishi Outlander arrives for 2026 with an array of updates and a revised price. In ES trim, the 2026 Outlander PHEV now starts at $44,990 — an increase of $2,845 over the 2025 model. What does that additional spend actually buy you?

The most meaningful change is a significant power upgrade. A new 23-kWh battery — 15 percent larger than before — extends the claimed electric-only range to 45 miles. That bigger pack also incorporates an improved cooling system and enhanced thermal management, which Mitsubishi says enabled it to raise system output from 248 horsepower to 297 horsepower for 2026. Steering and suspension calibration have also been revised to sharpen the driving character of the compact SUV.

Exterior and interior updates for the 2026 Outlander PHEV mirror the changes applied to the non-hybrid 2025 Outlander. The front end gets a new grille, fresh headlight and taillight designs, and revised 18- and 20-inch wheel options. Inside, the cabin has been overhauled to include a Yamaha audio system, more center console storage, an expanded wireless charging pad area, and repositioned cupholders for easier access.

Mitsubishi's spokesperson declined to provide a full pricing breakdown for all 2026 Outlander PHEV trim levels. Full pricing for the SE, SEL, and new Black Edition trims will be released when the model goes on sale in May.
